Date published 11/10/2012
Categories : Earthquake Reports
description:

On September 21 (15:21 GMT) and September 22 (03:52 GMT), 2012 two earthquakes occurred in Corinthiakos Gulf. The earthquakes were felt and the accelerographic network in the area recorded the ground accelerations. In this preliminary report information are given on the recorded ground motions.

According to the web page of the Seismological Station of the Thessaloniki University the first earthquake was a shallow one with magnitude M=4.1, epicentral coordinates 38.354 ΟN 22.009 ΟE and focal depth 9.4 km. The earthquake was felt at N. Achaia area with macroseismic intensity (ΙΕMS=IV) according to information collected by the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center, which was based on citizens' reports following their response.
