Strong Motion Data

Since 2018, a new database with recording from the Greek region has become available. GHEAD v1.0 contains 1097 3-component accelerometric waveforms generated by 401 earthquakes occurred in the Greek Region with magnitude equal or greater than 4.0 for the time period 1973-2010.The database, includes both uncorrected and corrected data (acceleration, velocity, displacement, spectral response). The graphical interface allows search queries using recording's metadata as well as spatial queries.

This database is up to now the most comprehensive collection of seismological recordings from the Greek Region. It is freely accessible in the following URL:

If you can't find data you are looking for in GHEAD, you can have a look below in some older data collections. In such a case, please notify us by sending an e-mail to it@itsak.gr about the missing data.

- For Greek earthquake recordings before 2000 search in the HEllenic Accelerogram Database (HEAD) . HEAD is a unified strong motion database consisting of records obtained from the Hellenic Strong Motion Network from 1973 to 1999. The project has been financed by the Earthquake Planning and Protection Organization (E.P.P.O.). The dataset includes 677 3-component records associated to 319 earthquakes, obtained from 117 strong motion stations.
